Our Society

ABOUT CIESEA

Our community

A scholarly home for comparative and international education in East Africa

CIESEA brings together researchers, scholars, practitioners, organizations, and experts in international and comparative education. Members are represented by universities, research centres, and education agencies—private, government, and development—across Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan, Rwanda, DRC, and Burundi. The Society also attracts honorary membership from around the world.

CIESEA has traditionally promoted a space for dialogue among scholars, specialists, and young researchers from comparative and international education and related disciplines. Its purpose is to encourage and promote teaching, research, and innovation in the field across East Africa and the wider globe.

Our mission

Understanding education through comparative inquiry

CIESEA seeks to contribute to an understanding of education through the encouragement and promotion of comparative education and related areas of inquiry and activity.

The Society is dedicated to increasing understanding of educational issues, trends, and policies through comparative, intercultural, and international perspectives. CIESEA organises conferences, produces publications, and supports professional networking and research opportunities for the field.
